Techniques

Easy pullouts along Highway 27 provide access throughout the canyon below Bowman Dam, with water ranging from shallow riffles and pocket water to deeper, slower runs. Indicator nymphing is the most consistent approach, especially with small midges, mayflies, caddis, and scuds. Euro-nymphing can be effective in faster riffles, while small dries and dry-dropper rigs shine when fish are feeding near the surface.

Flows can change with dam releases, so check current conditions before fishing and confirm the latest ODFW regulations.
